How can I load a stylesheet on the dev platform?

I second this, I've tried adding

<link id="globalStylesheet" href="/styles/home.css" type="text/css" rel="stylesheet" />

to my head tag in my region, but it gives me an error when I look in the console of my web dev. toolbar. It says the following:

Failed to load resource: the serverf responded with a status of 404 (Not Found) https://john-L-ok2p.squarespace.com/styles/home.css

I put the styiesheet in the styles folder via SFTP.. As long as I add my stylesheets to the template.conf it works, but I NEED to use specific styles for each page... help... lol
