I am using the Montauk theme and am building an online store for a brick and mortar clothing shop in Cincinnati. The store sells about 20 brands, and has about 13 departments. I am trying to find a way to break up and organize the 'products page' to better organize the 200+ items I'll be adding. As it stands now, I can not find a way to add anything to a products page accept products... and arrange them by dragging and dropping. This won't do. When a customer goes to the store, I don't want them bombarded by a page with 200+ items and no description as to what department / brand they are looking at. I have set up categories, which I intend to use on dropdowns (example: a menu item called 'departments' has a product category link to 'denim'). Again, this works alright, but there are no headings or text once they are directed to that category product page.
One work around would be to make normal web pages and add the 'product blocks'. However, when I do this, all of the features from the product page (namely the slick hover effects to show the item name and price) do not carry over and do not work. Additionally, this would not be a dynamic way of updating the store and utilizing the 'category' element... necessitating huge amounts of time to add a simple product, or change one.
I would like to use the product pages.... but I'm hoping someone can help direct me as to how to add 'non product' content... even just a line of text!
Much appreciated. ps. My site (work in progress, but there are dummy images and products) is here: articlemenswear.com
