On the desktop site, Gallery blocks are a great way to feature a grid gallery of uncropped thumbnail images, which link to a large lightbox viewer of the images, along with captions. In fact, gallery blocks are the only way on Squarespace to achieve what I just described (and it's the way I want my desktop site to work).
But if your desktop site is based on this type of gallery block, you get stuck with a mobile site that doesn't work very well. It tries to mimic the desktop concept, with a grid of thumbnails and an image viewer. All the more complex mobile Squarespace sitesjust aren't reliable, from what I've seen: images don't load, images change size and placement, etc. The simpler the better, for mobile, in my opinion. No point having a mobile site that doesn't work.
Any thoughts for people with Gallery Block grid desktop sites on how to achieve a mobile site that's a single column of largeish images with captions? Which does not feature a "thumbnail-to-large" type of function? If I could get past this stumbling block, my website problems would be solved.
Maybe some custom css would take care of it. Those are skills I don't have, though.
