White space in header of FIVE

Hi, I am trying to use code injection to add a header above the FIVE template. Whatever code I add seems to show up with a significant white space above and below the header. The larger the text in the header the larger the white space appears to be.

For example. If I go to the code injection settings for the site and put:

<h1>TEST</h1>

I will get a pretty think white space above and below the text "TEST".

I'm pretty new to Squarespace and web development.
