Trying to position a button in navigation bar with CSS but it is under the navigation bar.

I am positioning a button with CSS in the navigation bar but it gets placed under the nav bar so it doesn't show up. If I move it down slightly, you can see it peeking out. Is there a way to place it "on top" of the nav bar?
